The exact cause remains unknown. Despite testing for common factors, only high blood pressure and being slightly overweight were identified. Maisy has no obvious problems with her back or legs so doesn't seem to be a physical injury.
With the blood pressure medication she's back to her old self, coming to greet me, jumping up to sit beside me & talking to me. I'm hopeful that we have many more years together.
