“Megalopolis” wasn’t terrible, but I wish it had had much less repackaged Roman history and lazy (often literal) quotes from Shakespeare, and more batshit magic materials and Art Deco futurism saving the world. And hoorah for the New Pledge Of Allegiance and The The’s “Lonely Planet” over the credits, but nothing in the film itself engaged much with any real struggle for hope or justice.
