"content": "#nostr\n#grownostr\n#chickenstr\n\nThe hens haven't produced since about 2 weeks before the solstice.\n\nI cleaned the coop last weekend. They eat more feed in the winter because they can't forage as much. \n\nIt has been below freezing for a while, so we need to rotate their outdoor water daily and plug in the the indoor tank. \n\nWell three birds flew the pen this morning. That is odd because they are usually content inside their area, then I realized that I forgot to plug in the indoor tank and I hadn't yet replaced the outdoor tank. Their behavior speaks clearly.\n\nI promised my girls the sun, the moon and stars. In a 15 minute city, management needs to be on its toes or the citizenry will revolt.\n\nThe girls will forgive this transgression and return to the coop before sunset. We need them to be happy so that they start producing again in February when the days get noticeably longer. Winter chores are a bit different.\n\nFor now they can scratch around the yard on the frozen ground. Until they produce again, we have enough waterglassed eggs to get us to mid February. \n\nhttps://image.nostr.build/5dc1891675524d5569ccf054e843b2f794d83098f28e7563d6e943c44ec5e121.jpg https://image.nostr.build/561c727492ce5c7d69cf7a8df5342168204cdf7b3bbfe672ddbbc109380dc40b.jpg",
