We have a lot of procedures in place and standards to cover them more or less. But manpower and funding are a whole other thing, especially in upcoming generations. No one is selling kids the idea that these sorts of jobs are cool or interesting or valuable. It's all finance and tech.

And if you think the dams are bad, just wait until you hear the good news about the state of our many thousands of deteriorating bridges. And I don't even mean the big ones (though tons of those are in need of repairs and retrofits since no one wants to pay for them).
