Chris Trottier (npub1jeq…jglm) good on you Chris! A stronger body is its own reward and maintaining exercise capacity is much easier than gaining it in the first place.
I'm a former physical therapist and I've been fit for almost my entire life. Here's a very useful tip to help you through the inevitable times when life is making it hard to stay on track.
"Use it or lose it" is an apt saying. Thing is, you don't have to use it at full intensity to maintain. If life gets in the way, try to get in just 1 or 2 days a week. You can tread water like that for quite some time.
Even if you slide backwards, you'll slide back much more slowly so when you're able to resume your normal routine again, you're not starting back at the foot of the mountain.
Your body tends to change to lifestyle so you're reminding it that you still intend to move a lot.
Exercise capacity is specific though so that would be at least once of each activity you want to retain. I run, box, & do weights. When short on time, I make sure to do each once/week.
