Thinking about the right wing anti-immigrant riots in the UK, and what strikes me as really ironic is the people who claim that English culture etc. are under threat by an influx of foreigners don’t seem to understand that English culture as it is today is nothing more than the product of successive waves of cultural, linguistic and military “invasion” by the Romans, Angles, Saxons, Vikings, Normans etc.
