It comes from academia. In soft sciences like sociology the goal is to create theories that can then be published in papers. Basically how people in that world can survive without having to get real jobs.
So what ends up happening is they embrace these bizarre postmodernist, deconstructionist ideas that they apply to everything, its just meaningless jargon that sounds impressive to weak minded people.
Thing is, normie types have a need to adhere to the illusion of authority and take said theories as non debatable facts.
