It's always a bit fraught when you're having a writing discussion, and someone brings up a venerable, successful writer that they *love* as a positive example, and you kinda loathe every word by that author you've ever read.
(The author in question is long-deceased, and is not one of those "oh, we've learned they were actually a pretty awful person when they were alive" people, so I feel kinda bad. But their books just Did. Not. Work. for me.)
