The chief of police at the 38th Police Station (Vicente Pires), Pablo Aguiar, issued a warning about the scam on his social media after a series of recurring cases of victims of this scam. 'They try to deceive the victims by saying that the pots are excellent, that they have a sophisticated non-stick coating,' the delegate said. To convince the buyer, according to Pablo Aguiar, the scammers say that the pots are on promotional prices, that they need to return to their region and don't want to have a loss by returning without selling the pots. 'People buy and then when they get home and use them, they notice that the pots are of poor quality, made of very bad materials,' the delegate emphasized. In Vicente Pires, one of the victims of the 'Golpe da Panela' who preferred to remain anonymous, reported a loss of R$3,000 after being approached by two women who convinced her to buy the products. 'They wouldn't leave me alone! Then they started pressuring me and making emotional blackmail, saying they were the last pots and needed to leave to catch a flight. They said they would have to pay taxes if they returned with the merchandise,' the victim said. The resident of Vicente Pires also reported that, in addition to a large discount, she was promised gifts and a receipt. However, when she passed her card, she was informed that there were no more gifts. She tried to cancel the purchase when she realized she was being scammed, and the supposed seller said she would note her contact to send the gifts later. 'The pots are not original. The boxes were tampered with. They left quickly in a car without giving me a receipt or proof of purchase,' she emphasized. It is important to stay alert and protect yourself from this type of scam by researching the seller and product, asking to see the product before buying, verifying the quality and whether it corresponds to the description and price; Do not let yourself be swayed by very tempting offers or pressure to buy. Seek the police and report the crime if you are approached by suspicious sellers. And if you are a victim of the scam, register a police report so that the police can investigate the case.
