We are on the right path, and correctness is more important than speed. The reason Nostr hasn't experienced explosive growth is that it hasn't been done well enough yet. Current data indicates we are improving, and explosive growth is just a matter of time.
Nostr is a truly decentralized protocol, with all infrastructure advancements driven by diverse developers collaborating and clashing. There is no CEO to plan and issue directives. Even the largest benefactor,
jack (npub1sg6…f63m) cannot set the path or goals for Nostr. Nostr is destined to become a great protocol, and greatness cannot be planned. We only need time and must endure the inefficiency and high innovation of decentralization.
Nostr developers come from various backgrounds: some are funded by OpenSats, some have raised VC funds, some invest their own money, some develop part-time, and some contribute voluntarily. Why have so many developers consistently developed for Nostr over such a long time? Because Nostr genuinely offers people a decentralized protocol that grants freedom. These early developers and users are the indestructible foundation of Nostr.
Many people suggest introducing Shitcoins to stimulate Nostr's growth. We welcome all developers to join Nostr, until they discover its greatness. I have asked some friends involved in Ethereum project development, and they said most Ethereum projects aim to issue shitcoins and exploit investors, making it hard to maintain long-term patience in a project. Shitcoin holders do not care about freedom of speech; they only care about whether Nostr can mine or earn more tokens through posting.
Please abandon the illusion of shitcoins and continue to build Nostr strong. On the right path, we just need some time.
