I think it's very important for us to be honest and clear about these kinds of things.
As far as I can tell, this "test" is at best moot and at worst quite deceptive.
He is using the view key to see things that are available by design for the sender.
This is actually a feature, not a bug nor a weakness. So I don't know if the person is being disingenuous or just ignorant, but it's one of those in this case.
Also, in my opinion, the argument between these two camps is stupid and childish.
