Any of the medical doctors seriously considering giving it up and doing something entirely different?
I am so unbelievably burned out:
Insurance
Costs
Notes
Liability
Brutal call schedule
Incentives to “do more” instead of “do better”
Hospital politics
Sicker patients
Pharma
Greed
Doctors doing unnecessary procedures
I could go on…
Parent company filed for bankruptcy (my pod is fine)
It’s so stressful, because my job came to define a big part of who I am. I am a surgeon, a urologist.
It’s what I have done really since 2002 when I started undergraduate.
My community, my kids, my family…to them, I feel like they identify me as Dr. Bryan X.
Will my sense of worth and my identity evaporate?
It’s hard to get out of bed anymore, but I’m scared to submit the letter that says: “I respectfully resign.”
My wife is OB. Will she think different of me? Will I still be invited to go out to dinner with our friend circle?
What would I do? It’s all I know. Urology and bitcoin. That’s my skill set. And there are many who understand bitcoin much better than me. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you for letting me voice my pain.
