These days, #1 on HN generally produces ~5Hz of traffic for a few hours. I manage to survive it without a CDN by serving static-out-of-the-filesystem only. Not 100% convinced the issue is geographic. Anyhow, no biggie, anyone who cares knows enough to check in later in the day.
