It's not that they lost EUA because there's evidence they're unsafe, they lost EUA because they are no longer effective (again, it's use authorization, not approval). The people who have the old vaccine had protection then, but now it's probably less effective, which is why they recommend that anyone who has only gotten the monovalent vaccine now gets the bivalent one. There's no point in giving people a shot that's say, 20% effective when we are already making ones that are 80% effective. You talk about the ones still in storage, but honestly? there's probably only a very very small amount of them left. The bivalent vaccine has been in production since september 2022, and the vaccines only last 18 months since date of manufacture.
