Emeritus Prof Christopher May on Nostr: Reviewing data on #American atttutdes to #inequality, John Burn-Murdoch (FT) ...
Reviewing data on #American atttutdes to #inequality, John Burn-Murdoch (FT) concludes:
'A culture of aspiration & individual responsibility doubtless drives entrepreneurialism & wealth generation, but it also appears to engender apathy towards inequality & especially towards government intervention, leaving the poorest to fend for themselves'.
In other words the American Dream discounts bad luck & circumstance to foster a society that sees any problems as your own fault;
result: callousness!
