I thought the grounding incident with the Bolivian president’s aircraft in Austria, due to suspicion that #Snowden was aboard, sent a pretty clear signal that if he attempts to leave Russia, he’ll probably be arrested. He didn’t have much choice. In Russia, at least he has a bit of political leverage that he can play to his advantage. If he did manage to make it to South America, his safety from the would probably be less assured.
