As a general principle, yes, but this seems like another way of saying *don't eat pre-packaged overly processed industrial garbage.*
Instead, eat real, whole foods. Many of which have a long shelf life / shelf stability like rice, honey, salted meets, dehydrated fruits/veggies/meats, et al.
