"content": "I just learned I've been a total IDIOT.. since.. FOREVER !!! Okay, here's the story:\n\nI started having my own PC in the summer of 1993. My first DOS must have been MS-DOS 6.0, but that was quickly upgraded to 6.2. That was still in 1993. After the upgrade, I manually extracted the MS-DOS-Shell files from my old 6.0 disks, because that program was no longer included by default in DOS 6.2. For years, I kept a zipfile with DOSSHELL.EXE, DOSSHELL.COM and DOSSHELL.HLP. It always worked. It didn't look very pretty, but it worked!\n\nLittle did I know, I did it all wrong! For over 30 years now! Because I was completely ignorant of DOSSHELL.VID, DOSSHELL.GRB and DOSSHELL.INI !!! These 3 files have different names on the install disks and are only renamed and copied by using the original SETUP.BAT. Only with these files, MS-DOS-Shell is capable of running in a graphical vga mode! This looks so much better!\n\nI guess, I need to re-think my life now.
