TBH, I think it isn't really just foreigners miffed with this. A massive missed opportunity / programming misfire is a more apt way to describe it.
I mean, come on! TVNZ had the Auckland fireworks live feed on their site, and they continue to run ad breaks anyway - so, if they do nothing more than show a special ad-break at midnight with a 10 second countdown + at least first minute of live Auckland fireworks footage, no one can begrudge them really IMO
