Recommendations, please!
Is there a self-hosted modern day equivalent of encyclopaedia-on-a-disk, Encarta?
Not a mirror of Wikipedia (too big), but something much smaller, and so commensurately less broad / deep, but still a useful reference tool?
I wonder whether looking for an old copy of Encarta might be a starting point (for anything before 2008, at least!).
