The media got a lot of mileage out if talking about “filter bubbles” by making it seem social media was harming society by encouraging people to only consume content they agree with.
However the reality is that
1. People don’t want to consume content they disagree with. The user exodus from Twitter as it tilted right is a great example.
2. You are more likely to encounter content you disagree with in a feed than on your favorite cable news show, newspaper, blog or podcast.
