Starterpacks are smart and they create all sorts of desirable network effects.
When I locate Bluesky really taking off, a big part of that was people being able to quickly recreate the kinds of information feed they were getting elsewhere by following interest starterpacks.
This also sent a signal to ppl that put a lot of effort into their posting: there's a way for you to grow & help others grow quickly.
