microsoft now also basically embeds an LXC runtime in their OS as an optional component and appears to be throwing a lot of money at Canonical these days
pretty sure ballmer and gates would never have allowed that either
honestly, i can really envision things flipping and windows migrates to linux kernel, ARM hardware, and they maintain a legacy W32/W64 API and directX
the benefits of everyone going unix are pretty obvious at this point i think... even much of recent years work adding features to microsoft has been about improving posix compliance
