shout out to when I posted some lyrics on deviantART, and someone told me they couldn't possibly be lyrics because they didn't rhyme...
when I kindly explained repetition of like sounds is not a requirement for songwriting, they rescinded their point: "oh, true. I like The Decemberists, and some of their songs don't rhyme."
that's when I lost all respect for them
not because they're a fan of The Decemberists, but because a fan of The Decemberists thought to police my shit for being free verse
