For me is quite simple: Hamas = Mosad.
An another PRS, Problem, Reaction, Solution.
Create a Problem: "Hamas" attacked Israel.
Do a "legit" Reaction to it: Kill as many Palestinian as you can.
All the above leads to the Solution for their main goal: conquer the land of Gaza.
Everything Big throughout the history happened according to a PRS structure.
