I created a keyword targeted campaign for all the authors I think might attract the same readers, then I add a keyword phrase for their names as they appear in their Amazon listing. Using a phrase leaves it broad enough that someone typing "books by John Scalzi" will hit.
It's possible to target their books by ASIN as well, but that was too finicky for me.
