The National Olympic Committee announced the election of Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum as the President of the National Olympic Committee for the period 2024-2028, following his confirmation as the President, in accordance with the committee's bylaws and the decisions made by its board of directors. This was announced during the regular meeting of the National Olympic Committee's general assembly, held in Dubai, which was attended by Dr. Ahmed Al Falasi, Minister of Sports and Vice President of the National Olympic Committee, the Executive Committee, and members of the general assembly and board of directors. During the meeting, Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum emphasized that the responsibility of leading national institutions is a sacred trust that requires dedication and commitment, and that the trust of the national sports figures who have contributed to the Olympic movement in the country is a valuable asset. He also praised the vision of Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President of the National Olympic Committee, who has been leading the committee for 16 years, and whose achievements have left a lasting legacy for the Olympic movement in the UAE. Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum also commended the efforts of the presidents of the National Olympic Committee since its establishment in 1979, which have been the foundation for the growth and development of the Olympic movement in the UAE. He highlighted the achievements of the UAE, including its first Olympic medal in the 2004 Summer Olympics, won by Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Hasher Al Maktoum in the men's trap shooting event, and other achievements that have made the UAE a major hub for hosting and organizing major sports events. He emphasized that the continuation of the Olympic movement in the UAE requires the joint efforts of all stakeholders, including sports federations, entities, and institutions, to provide the necessary resources for athletes and create a favorable environment for them to achieve their best results. The meeting also approved the International Olympic Committee's decision to extend the term of the National Olympic Committee's board of directors for the 2024-2028 period, as well as the technical and administrative reports for 2024, and the strategic plan for the National Olympic Committee for the 2024-2028 period. The meeting also approved the financial report for 2024, the budget for 2025, and the audit report for 2024, as well as the budget for the preparation and participation in sports events according to the 2025 plan. After the meeting, Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum signed an agreement to host the national sports federations at the new headquarters of the National Olympic Committee in Dubai, which will accommodate 21 national sports federations from various individual and team sports.
