PayPal was an absolute bane partly due to the connected information (address, email account, phone number) but also the bank account I used for payments. The ghost-profile technique they use is to cross-reference all available data.
To kill my PayPal, I had to delete it completely not just leave its fields blank (except for email). When I had emptied my PayPal details leaving the fields blank, it "autofilled" with information that I had not provided.
PayPal seemed to be connected to my Facebook account that would not let me back in. I had not used PayPal in Facebook. On the day that I deleted PayPal, I got emails from PayPal AND Facebook asking me to set-up accounts!
Spotify also got upto some bank & PayPal account nonsense so I ended my Spotify subscription after a year.
Haven't even mentioned what Microsoft and Google have done!
