The two of them made peace but they are on two different pages. No middle eastern nation aside from Yemen truely wishes war with Israel unless they were directly being threatened.
The Saudis rely on the U.S and Europe far too much to stick it's neck out for weak ethno religious arguments. Iran only sees the Palestinian population as a destabilizing force in Israel, which they have an interest in dismantling as a competing enemy within the region.
Really the only person capable of cooling the conflict is the president of the United States, which is unlikely.
At terrible as it may seen, this conflict has cost America and the western powers years of foreign policy goodwill. Allowing for emerging powers to more easily divest from the western sphere of infunace
