41402 (nprofile…dklr) In my opinion, the advantage of Black Mesa series is that it fills in the gaps in the story and lore. Both BM and BS have basically identical stories to the original, just made substantially more fleshed-out.
And the beauty of the Xen situation is that it is
a) is a complete afterthought in the original game, rushed and underdeveloped;
b) thematically is supposed to be huge, wild, heterodox, unfamiliar and diverse;
c) we're probably never going back there later in the series.
So - it's pretty much a blank canvas for the remake developers to draw on. Anything goes, almost. And Gearbox already took a lot if liberties with their "Race X", so... why not?
