As (another) 'summer of sport' intensifies with Wimbledon & Euro2024 finals in the next six days.... we might recall Noam Chomsky's view of sport:
'One of the functions that things like professional sports play, in our society & others, is to offer an area to deflect people's attention from things that matter, so that the people in power can do what matters without public interference'!
An election changed that (briefly) but its back to normal for sports & politics this week
