The National Audit Office thinks around half of England's councils may plunge into bankruptcy in the next couple of years unless there is concerted political action to avoid the crisis.

This has been a slow-burning, Tory engineered crisis & its quite possible that it will now blow up in Labour's face; it isn't inevitable but given Labour's continued austerity-based policy logic I've little confidence their new funding package will solve the problem!
