Unpopular take:
Comparing popular culture, I think one of the strengths of China and Japan is very good ability to absorb foreign influence and technology, digest, and integrate back into something Chinese or Japanese.
I don’t think America can do this. In USA, it all exists and clashes in tandem like a supermarket of foreign food aisles.
I don’t see an effort to integrate it back into “American” identity. Or even “American” identity it can integrate back into.
