The ALP made significant gains in this election, confirming 85 Lower House seats, potentially gaining another 7 or more for the party’s best election win in decades, in a strong rejection of Trump-loving Liberals and now former Liberal leader Potato Dutton who lost his seat to a three time challenger.
Anthony Albandjar is far from the perfect leader and Prime Minister and their campaign wasn’t great by they were helped by potentially the most incompetent and weakest Liberal Party ever with a leader who was completely out of touch with his own voters and even supporters. The Liberals lost about a dozen seats last night when they needed to pick up more than that. They embraced Trump just like the Canadian Conservative Party and lost precisely because of it.
For the uninitiated, the Australian Liberal Party, in coalition with the National Party, today is a strongly right wing Conservative Party pretending to be center right and they’ve always been economic liberals, never social liberals. #AusPol #AusPol2025
