I hate when posts go "viral" or get some legs, even in the Fediverse.

It'll bring in reply guys who comment on that one post without having any context. I cant put every edge case into a single post to cover all possible scenarios. And then when I try and engage to discuss or correct what I was trying to convey, it just gets bogged down into debates that dont debate what I was trying to convey.

Like. A recent post went into growing your own food and giving free food to neighbors. And folks were dragging it because "its not possible to fully feed yourself so why try?!?!". Ok. Fine! First off, it might be. I havent there yet. Second, even just replacing a single plant saves money and lessens dependence. Its not a zero sum / all or nothing game.

Anyhow. Holy shit is it demoralizing.

I'm not the best at determining if something is a troll or sincere and I've mistaken sincere posts for trolls in the past and thats the worst. So I try to approach everything sincerely (been failing at that lately).

Its exhausting.
