One of my uncles (now deceased from a drug overdose) was career US Navy and spent many years stationed on Kodiak, Alaska. He said that every morning as he pulled out of his driveway for work, there would be a big group of about 10-12 bald eagles loitering on the roof of his garage, waiting for him to leave. As he would drive away, he would watch them in the rear view mirror immediately jump down and knock over the garbage can and start tearing apart the garbage and strewing it everywhere. This would happen every day he said. He despised bald eagles and always called them ‘flying rats’.
