Okay, so this is almost definitely bullshit from my misunderstanding something, to be clear.

I am told that in string theory, each universe is a membrane in higher dimensional space, and particles are “strings” of vibrating energy. Such strings are either tied to the membrane at both ends like protons and electrons, or loops which are not tied to the membrane at all, like gravitons. That’s what I read. If I parsed it right, would that not imply that other membranes adjacent to ours would cast “gravity shadows” on ours, and vice versa? So the reason our galaxy moves like it has way more mass than it does is because it’s sharing coordinates with other galaxies in nearby membranes?
