Babu Menos on Nostr: After well over one and a half years of using all the major commercial social media ...

After well over one and a half years of using all the major commercial social media networks and a year after reopening my Mastodon account—all with the primary intent of promoting my music—I now have to conclude:

1. I have not achieved my goal; no matter the actual platform, the number of likes for posts promoting my own music has been negligible, comments amount to nearly naught.
2. Social media has had noticeable impact on my wellbeing. I’ve just written a blog post about that: “Too Much Dopamine” https://babumenos.com/blog/2023/10/too-much-dopamine/

With a heavy heart, I will give up posting. For the foreseeable future or for ever? Time will tell.

I will, however, make it known whenever I publish a new blog post. And my (still new-ish) blog provides an RSS feed; for those of you who use a feed reader and want to follow: https://babumenos.com/blog/feed/

Let me add, Mastodon did stand out in that, for a while, there was actual communication happening. I have met some very kind, funny, interesting people here and I am grateful for the chats we’ve had.
