the trick to doing refactors effectively is to not underestimate how much stuff you have to touch
i often will start from scratch about 3 times or stop mid way and restart from there several more times before i get a refactor to work
the more spaghetti, the more pain
this is why vibe coded shit is gonna be a short lived fad when people get tired of fifteen million different versions of the same thing that are all written badly and can't be maintained within budget
