Something I wasn't ready for when I became a people manager: team members leaving my team because their long-term career goals can be better met elsewhere in the company.
I can only assume that this is what it will feel like when my kids get married, but until then please understand that I'm feeling a little fragile today. One of my people, just promoted to Principal based on their amazing work and impact, is moving on. Although I know this is the right move and I wish them the best, I'm still not ready. 😢
