There's an extremely important lesson here.
From now on, for as long as the GOP continues to exist, the only way to succeed in the party will be to adopt ever more extreme levels of hatred and cruelty.
Literally no atrocity is too extreme for the GOP now. Concentration camps, nuclear bombs, destroying entire cities with poison gas... nothing. Individual Republicans will continue to discover this gradually, as they have since 2016.
