Black women were denied sovereignty over their own bodies. They were robbed of the milk in their own breasts to nurse the infants of the master’s family — even if that meant the mother’s child had to wait. That’s but one of the great many cruel, shameful realities that slaves had to endure.
Florida’s brazen racists are exceedingly bold in moves to normalize their hate. Their targets have been through this shit before. We’re not new to this rodeo, and we’re not the clowns.
