It is true that there were no new hardware updates it ignores the many improvements that came with iPadOS 17. I found it a helpful and significant update.
In terms of climate and planetary resources I think we could do with fewer hardware updates for all hardware. Let there be a 1-2 year gap between device line updates and encourage longer use of devices. Focus energy on OS updates instead.
