It boggles my mind many Americans can't swim.
In NL most children get years of training and have multiple diplomas by the age of 12. To me that's the most normal thing ever, but of course not every place is like the Netherlands.
I mean, I get it, there's not as much open water everywhere as there is here. The main reason why parents make sure their children can swim properly is they don't want them to drown.
But besides that... I also think it's a really nice skill to have in general tbh.
