After a bit of DDG'ing, I've found a couple of examples that filter water from the shower and send it back to the water heater. Seems quite expensive on filters and any dissolved salt is going to trash the water heater. A cheaper option might be to coarse filter the shower water and send it back to the cold side of the shower thermostatic mixer. This would also recover some heat.
