I'm eager to meet her,' Trump told reporters on Thursday, announcing a commercial agreement between the United States and the United Kingdom, the first since he launched his trade war. The European Union 'has a huge interest in reaching an agreement. Everyone wants to reach an agreement with the United States, so we're doing it,' Trump added. When asked about Trump's comments, the European Commission chief smiled before emphasizing the importance of a negotiated solution. 'I like praise in general,' Von der Leyen replied during a press conference in Brussels alongside the new German Chancellor, Friedrich Merz. She added that she had 'good conversations' with Trump over the phone and at the funeral of Pope Francis last month. However, 'if I go to the White House, I want to have a package we can discuss. So, it has to be concrete, and I want to have a solution we can both agree on. That's the work we're doing now,' she added.
