No, but you might regret it if you need to replace it in future. Solder splashes make the blue ones go an ugly brown, I expect it's worse on the cream ones.
It probably plugs into an earthing plug with a one-megohm resistor. Usually they have snap studs but sometimes banana plugs are used. They're frowned upon in labs because they invite mistakes like wiring the earthing mat up to a power supply output.
