I think most windows machines reach end of live way early (due to bloat of the OS), this is when you install linux and squeeze a few years more out of them.
But to me it makes more sense to skip the 100$ windows license and go straight to linux
I see your point tho, most off the shelf pc have windows pre installed. You probably would need to order it online, without license
