Open MPI is #FreeSoftware and is the leading #MPI implementation these days.
It’s not under a #copyleft license though, and vendors such as HPE and Atos retain patches/branches/forks for their own networking hardware (Slingshot, BXI).
Needless to say, that spoils the whole thing, esp. for those of its customers who care about #OpenScience—which is to say: many of them.
