I think there’s a balance to be struck with gay representation in media. In some instances I definitely agree there’s forced “woke” inserts.
However, Gay people are both a large demographic (even 3% of the population is humdreds of millions worldwide) AND in the United States, they are a very wealthy demographic.
By bringing a gay subplot into the show, they piqued the interest of a entirely new demographic. It’s good business.
Last thing - Gay people see straight romance plots in virtually all entertainment, and I’m quite sure they are unphased by this. If seeing a gay romance bothers you, it’s simply because the unfamiliar is uncomfortable. Everyone deserves a love story on screen.
